OBSTETRICIAN-GYNECOLOGIST WANTED

The position: The Penticton Regional Hospital Department of OB/GYN seeks an Obstetrician-Gynecologist to join 3 existing OB/GYNs in a hospital and community based practice to replace a member departing June 30, 2009.  The successful candidate will share duties with 3 OB/GYNs in providing Level 1 MOCAP on call service to Labor and Delivery and the Emergency Department.  The delivery rate is approximately 600 per year. Paediatric coverage is available for 12 level 1 beds, 3 level 1a neonatal intensive care beds. The successful candidate will have about 3 days per month in the operating room and can choose to participate in the Colposcopy Clinic. The department shares a warm collegial atmosphere and a commitment to excellence in providing healthcare for women and families of the South Okanagan.

Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) is the referral center for a population of about 84,000, 2 community hospitals and 2 Diagnostic Centers. Penticton Regional Hospital has 53 Family doctors and 46 specialists. Acute services at Penticton Regional Hospital include Emergency Surgery, Medical, Pediatrics, Intensive and Coronary care, Oncology and Psychiatry. Out patient programs include Colposcopy Clinic. Ambulatory care for medical and surgical procedures, Pacemaker Clinic, Psychiatry daycare programs, Rheumatoid Arthritis Clinic and renal dialysis. Imaging services include CT scanning, with shared portable MRI scanning with permanent plans in the works. The hospital is part of the Interior Health Authority.
