Penticton Tourism Advisory Council & Chamber of Commerce announce financial commitment to Ironman Canada Race Society

The Penticton & Wine Country Tourism Advisory Council (TAC) has put its support behind the ongoing success of the Ironman triathlon by voting to give up to $17,500 to Ironman Canada. In return, Penticton & Wine Country Tourism will receive television advertising spots on TSN, website advertising and promotional spots from Ironman Canada, as well as access to Ironman Canada’s 25,000 name database.

“Ironman does so much for this community,” said Tourism Marketing Manager Jessie Campbell. “With this contribution, Penticton & Wine Country Tourism is demonstrating to Ironman Canada that the tourism community of Penticton stands behind this race today and into the future.”

The TAC is now looking to the community to match its funding efforts with another $17,500.

“The TAC and the Chamber of Commerce worked diligently to find this funding,” said Chamber President Cary Schneiderat. “We are now looking to our valued community partners to come up with an additional $17,500 needed to ensure Penticton continues to successfully host the Ironman Canada race.”

A group of local tourism and community stakeholders are leading the charge in collecting the remaining $17,500 needed to fulfill the Ironman Canada funding requirement of $35,000. Among those who will be reaching out to their membership is the Penticton Hospitality Association, Downtown Penticton Association and Iron Club, as well as the Penticton & Wine Country Chamber of Commerce.
