Title Sponsor named for Penticton Dragon’s Den Competition

Penticton Economic Development Services in partnership with Okanagan College, Community Futures Development Corporation Okanagan-Similkameen, Business Development Bank of Canada and School District 67 is pleased to announce that Windward Software Inc of Penticton has agreed to be the title sponsor for Penticton’s very own “Dragons Den Young Entrepreneur Competition”. The competition will involve Princess Margaret Secondary and Penticton High School participants and will begin in January 2010.

The Windward Software Dragons Den competition is a young entrepreneur program that creates an opportunity for local secondary school students to develop their business and entrepreneurial skills.

In teams students will complete three task categories in Innovation; Marketing and Promotion; and Finance and Design. The program will follow a similar format to the CBC’s TV show “The Dragon’s Den” teams will be judged on three tasks. Teams will accumulate points and at the end of each task the judges will decide which teams will move on to the next round. In the end, there will be two winning teams. The winning teams will receive seed capital to create their own summer job.
