Based on public sector, agriculture, tourism and manufacturing, Penticton’s economy is strong and growing. The area is becoming known for its high quality vineyards and premium vintages as well as its diversified manufacturing and industrial sectors.

Approximately 2,000 workers (or about 9.8%) of Greater Penticton’s workforce are employed in tourism related businesses. In 2008, tourism in BC generated a direct contribution to gross domestic product (GDP) of $6.6B, a 32% increase in GDP since 1998.
